No one can slay a red carpet like Jonathan Van Ness

Gone are the days when gender defines red carpet fashion, or fashion in general. Case in point, Queer Eye’s grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness. When it came time to get dolled up for the Creative Art Emmys, the fierce fashionista, who recently came out as non-binary, turned his nose up at all those Armani tuxedos, instead opting for a dazzling and truly regal ensemble fit for the true diva that he is.

Christian Siriano designed the reality star’s black strapless mini dress, which featured an exaggerated blue and green bow that gave it a gown-like effect. He finished off the look with chunky heeled, peep-toe, platform boots and a simple, black clutch.

Because it was a look that needed to be celebrated from every angle, Van Ness shared a bunch of stunning photos from the red carpet. Can you believe?

“But a bow on that ass,” he captioned an image that showcased the jaw-dropping bow that adorned his backside.

There was also a super adorable moment when his fashion expert costar Tan France — dressed to thrill as well in a sherwani — fixed Van Ness’ dress on the red carpet. The rest of the show’s “Fab Five” looked great as well, with culture expert Karamo Brown donning a fur-trimmed coat, Bobby Berk, home decorator, in a chic suit and Chef Antoni Porowski killing it in a classic tuxedo.

“Their friendship & support teaches me so much,” he wrote alongside the image. “To ask for help, they affirm me in all the ways friends should, and they’ve also taught me that I can trust them. Through all the ups, downs, happy times, privately stressful times we always are there. Thanks so much to everyone involved with Queer Eye especially our crew, producers, pre and post production, ITV & Netflix and my whole team THANK YOU.”

You can’t get the full, dramatic effect of his look without watching the video he posted as well.

Queer Eye took home three awards at the 71st Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. However, they clearly deserved a fourth: Best Dressed Ensemble.
