While leaving a restaurant earlier this week, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen were stopped by paparazzi and questioned about “attacking politicians if they’re on the other side of the aisle” — namely, Sarah Sanders.
And it was not Chrissy, but John, who gave the best soundbite you’ll hear all day.
As TMZ’s video clearly shows, John Legend has no time for inane questions about privileged, monstrous members of the Trump administration and their “right” to dine in public in peace.
Because, frankly, there are way more important issues at hand. Godspeed to anyone who dares to ask John Legend about anything else moving forward.
The TMZ reporter is clearly goading Legend by asking him if people are going “too far” in their criticism of Sarah Sanders, and, bless him, he takes the bait — and delivers beautifully.
“Ask me ‘Should we be reuniting 2,000 kids with their families?’” Legend lambasts, bringing the focus back to the thousands of separated families who are victims of Trump’s zero-tolerance policy. “Yes we should,” he says.
And then he lets TMZ and the American public know exactly how he feels — which is basically how we all should feel.
“I don’t care about fucking Sarah Sanders. Reunite the fucking kids with their families, then we’ll talk about Sarah Sanders and her fucking dinners.”
But really — who gives a shit if proponents of one of the darkest times in United States history can’t finish their restaurant cheese plate? Or if a government official who is directly responsible for the caging of human beings can’t eat her chips and guac in silence? I make it a point never to feel sorry for privileged people in general, let alone ones who actively take part in torturing mothers, fathers, and children.
Thank you, John Legend. When they go low — and good GOD have they gone lower than low — sometimes it’s best to just get in their fucking faces and let them know about it.
